Building International Exchange Skills: A Specialized Training Session

To enhance the international communication and collaboration skills of its faculty and students, the School of Mathematical Sciences hosted a specialized training session on April 11, 2024, in Room 401 of the Yifu Building. The session gathered nearly 40 attendees, including graduate student advisors, representatives from research teams, and senior undergraduates. The keynote speaker, Mr. Tongli Niu from the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, delivered the presentation, which was chaired by Vice Dean Chao Qin.

The training, titled "A Bright Future, Embracing the WorldDiscovering a Better Self through International Exchange", focused on three key topics: why international exchange is important, what it involves, and how to participate. Drawing on real-world examples from the university and its programs, Niu provided actionable insights to help attendees understand the opportunities and benefits of global engagement.


The session received enthusiastic feedback. Xingzhou Jiang, a newly appointed graduate student advisor and young faculty member, remarkedthis training was exactly what I needed as a new member of the school. I am eager to apply what I have learned to help our team advance international exchange and cooperation.Similarly, Mingze Sun, a PhD student from the Class of 2023, shared, this session clarified the application process for international programs, which will be incredibly helpful as I prepare for overseas study.

To wrap up, Niu addressed participants questions and concerns, encouraging them to take advantage of international exchange opportunities. He emphasized the importance of broadening global perspectives and enhancing competitiveness on the international stage.
