The 9th Hopf Algebra Conference took place from August 19 to 22 at the Qihang Activity Center. Over 100 experts from more than 20 institutions, including the University of Science and Technology of China, Zhejiang University, and Nanjing University, gathered to discuss cutting-edge research and future directions in Hopf algebra. Professor Rujian Yan,Vice Chancellor of Harbin Engineering University and Professor Quanshui Wu from Fudan University, a committee member, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
Professor Rujian Yan welcomed attendees on behalf of Harbin Engineering University. He briefly highlighted the university's history, unique features, and recent achievements in mathematics. He stated that China prioritizes the development of fundamental disciplines and basic research more than ever. We aim to leverage this conference to enhance its specialties, advance foundational, emerging, and interdisciplinary studies.
Professor Quanshui Wu congratulated the successful hosting of the conference and appreciated the organizers for their dedication. He encouraged experts to leverage this platform for enhanced communication and collaboration on frontier issues in Hopf algebra, contributing to the development of mathematics in China. He also expressed hopes and expectations for the attending young scholars and doctoral candidates.
The conference lasted three days with 18 research talks from distinguished professors. In addition, A PhD students forum was hold to share their young ideas and research outcomes. The event addressed foundational and frontier topics in Hopf algebras, providing a stage for young researchers, while positively impacting the development of the mathematics in our university.
