Recently, the School of Mathematical Sciences held a successful inauguration ceremony and themed Party Day event for the jointly established "Quantum Joint Laboratory" with China Telecom Heilongjiang Branch. Dean Zhaobing Fan, Party Secretary Yanbo Wang , and Deputy Secretary Zhi Qu led representatives from the Algebra and Geometry Research Center Party Branch and the Graduate Student Algebra and Geometry Party Branch, alongside officials from China Telecom Heilongjiang Branch, to participate in the event and unveil the laboratory.

A delegation from the School of Mathematical Sciences visited the China Telecom Centennial Development Exhibition Hall, where they experienced over 20 advanced technological innovations, including quantum encrypted communication, TianTong satellite communication, cloud-based auditing Wi-Fi, medical imaging cloud, XiRang Research Assistant, smart canteen, and Tianyi Cloud VR. The two parties conducted a scholarly discussion on the profound integration of mathematical foundational research with quantum information and communication technologies, and formalized the establishment of the "Quantum Joint Laboratory."

Dean Zhaobing Fan highlighted the advancements in applied mathematics, artificial intelligence, and quantum information science, with a particular focus on the outcomes of collaborations between industry and academia such as the Quantum Technology Internship and Training Camp. Jiasheng Wang , Assistant General Manager of China Telecom Heilongjiang Branch, stated that the company is actively progressing with the "Cloudification and Digitalization" strategy, urgently requiring mathematical theories to support network optimization, computational resource scheduling, and data security. They anticipate integrating the "mathematical DNA" into the entire communication technology value chain through the joint laboratory. The two parties also reached a consensus on establishing a joint training base, which will facilitate in-depth collaboration in talent development, innovation, entrepreneurship, and curriculum design. This cooperation aims to deepen the integration of industry, academia, research, and application, collaboratively cultivating high-caliber innovative talents capable of advancing in the quantum information sector.

This event is a vital component of the School of Mathematical Sciences' Party Committee's efforts to implement the university's autumn work conference spirit of deepening implementation, refocusing priorities, and increasing efforts. It promotes interdisciplinary "Mathematics+" research initiatives. This signifies a substantial advancement in our university's mathematical discipline and collaborations with major research institutes under the guidance of Party leadership, joint problem-solving, and talent cultivation. The college will continue to leverage the depth of fundamental research to accelerate industrial innovation, contributing the "Mathematics Strength of Harbin Engineering University" to high-quality development of the digital economy in Heilongjiang.
