Recently, the Heilongjiang Association of Artificial IntelligenceHAAI announced the results of the outstanding doctoral dissertation selection. Dr.Qingwei Jia was recognized for his thesis titled Research on Feature Selection and Label Completion Methods in Multi-label Learning. This is the only doctoral dissertation from our university to be awarded at the provincial level in this field this year and represents a significant milestone in our college's efforts to advance the interdisciplinary integration of mathematics and artificial intelligence.

This study focuses on core challenges in multi-label learning, specifically systematic investigation into feature selection and missing label identification. The proposed innovative methods have been validated for applications in practical domains such as text classification and medical diagnostic assistance. The relevant findings have been published or accepted in top-tier academic journals including Information Fusion and IEEE Transactions on Multimedia,as well as Class B journals like Pattern Recognition and Information Sciences. These achievements contributed to Dr. Qingwei Jia being selected for the inaugural China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) Young Talent Support Program – Doctoral Track, contributing to his thesis being recognized as an excellent dissertation by the HAAI.

Behind these remarkable achievements lies the continuous empowerment of the college’s comprehensive and in-depth talent development support system. The college has established and implemented a tri-dimensional educational framework of "Talent Cultivation, Policy Support, and Mentor Guidance," thereby laying a solid foundation for student growth and success. In talent development, the college adheres to the principles of personalization and cutting-edge curriculum, creating interdisciplinary training programs and building diverse development platforms. Regarding policy support, a comprehensive research cycle support mechanism has been constructed, providing ample funding and infrastructural backing. The mentorship of Professor Tingquan Deng played a pivotal role; under his leadership, the team has focused on granular computing theories and their applications in intelligent data analysis, directly tackling the complexities and uncertainties of big data and exploring efficient data processing methods and intelligent decision-support technologies. To date, the team has not only cultivated numerous outstanding undergraduate, master's and doctoral talents but also attracted high-caliber domestic and international experts, ensuring continuous talent development and enhancing academic competitiveness.

This award vividly reflects the school’s achievements in scientific research and talent development, serving as strong evidence of ongoing reforms in talent cultivation models, reinforcement of research policy support and the significant role of mentors in education. Moving forward, the college will continue to optimize its educational framework, cultivating more high-quality professionals in the fields of mathematics and artificial intelligence.
